Hi Guys,
Thanks for help and posting your debug messages of version 1.2.4 . Special thanks to qazwart, who solved the "missing slash" bug. It was quite obvious, but I didn't have time to solve it, so he did and posted it.

I made some changes that should fix the errors you posted, so please download the NEW testing version 1.2.5.

Post edited by: matto, at: 2008/03/24 21:07

Thanks. That takes care of the problem.

Instead of deleting JoomlaWatch, I simply FTP's over the individual files. I didn't bother with the flag icons, but I FTP'd everything else.

Once again...I would love to test out 1.2.5, but when I download the Unzip First file and try to unzip it, I'm asked for a password. What is the password???

Hi, there is no password.
Please use winzip, total commander or windows explorer to open the archive.

I have downloaded JoomlaWatch 1.2.5 twice and tried to unzip the file with WinZip. Both times I got:

Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive

How do we resolve this?

Hi,
bots and spiders are special programs run by individuals or companies that visit your website for some purposes.
Some of them are "friendly", like googlebot that tries to index the content of your website, and some of them are not.
Like the ones, that extract email adresses to send spam to.
There are some other spambots, that are filling forms and this way are trying to "promote" some websites.
That's why most of the forms use the CAPTCHA (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captcha) mechanisms.

Some of those bots can make many requests to your website, and make it load slower or very occasionally they may cause a server crash (Distributed Denial of Service Attack from many IP adresses).

Impossible.
I tried to open it also with winzip, and no password was required.
You can just double-click the .zip archive and it will open in windows explorer.

Sorry, I'm not the person who is getting the password request. I'm the one using winzip and getting

Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive

Hmm, really strange.
Please provide as much information as you can about OS you are using, winzip version and so on. What about using doubleclick to open or total commander?

And, maybe you can check the file size, it could happend, that the file was not completely downloaded. The filesize should be 898,956 bytes.

That's all I can suggest. One person reported this as well using the Mac OS.

Good luck,

Matto

Re:1.2.5 - NEW VERSION 8 Years, 5 Months ago
Well, now I see the problem. The first two tries came in at 122,880 bytes using Firefox 2.0.0.13 on Windows XP. The next two tries came in at 245,760 bytes and 368,640 bytes.

I finally tried the download in Internet Explorer and on the second attempt I finally got the complete file.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Brenda

May I come with a suggestion? I love the ap, but while editing my page it would've been great with an ignore ip(e.g my own) function. Could be kindo alike banip, but avoiding all db stuff if ip is on ignore list.

Hi, yes,
that's what someone has already suggested. I'll include it into the next version. It's a good idea. Thanks.

Hi , thanks for the great work you have done with Joomlawatch

I just wanted to add that one thing I have noticed particularly using IE is that the download file for Joomlawatch never seems to fully download for me and probably many others.

Instead I have to use something like flashget which isn't affected by the interrupted / cut short download from this server.

So when you see the message you have an invalid file etc , you'll know the file size is not correct because the download probably got cut off and you only have half the file.

Yes.. exactly. I've been trying to solve this issue with my webhosting company, and they said, there's no problem from their side. I've also tested it several times and it worked well. I don't know, maybe when there is too big latency or what.. whatever.. for the users that do have this problem I'll recommend to use some download tool that can continue with the interupted download.
