Hi There,

It is working great on a sub domain but after installing on the main domain the cpanel stalles at loading visits and stats and it shows the dreaded red cross on the front end?

No errors show up. Joomla 1.5.3 with legacy enabled (on both main and sub domain)

Its a great extension, which is why I am very keen to get it working on the main domain.

Any advice appreciated
Thanks

Check the permissions of visits.php, stats.php and so on, they have to be set to 755.
Try to access them from yourdomain/components/com_joomlawatch/stats.php

.. you should see some text.

otherwise, there's that problem with the file permisions on your server

Hi Matto,

I actually solved the problem before reading you very prompt reply which I thank you for!

The problem was found in the error log for the server, which was that the component directory;

"SoftException in Application.cpp:544: Directory "/home/iqxff/public_html/components" is writeable by group"

It was et at 777, after changing this to 755 all worked absolutely perfectly!

Interestingly it is working fine now as is, with the permissions for the files you quote to check, set at 644. It seems to work OK with these files set to 644 or 755.

Again thanks and for producing a really great component.

Regards
Alan

I have adjusted the permissions and still get the red "x" in place of the image...even when I set the settings to make the image invisible...

Click on the image "x" icon, and choose "View image".

I still get the red x, nothing changes. I even went so far as to create new images with the .png format in case the new version was calling for those instead of .gif somehow.

Using 1.2.6 on Joomla 1.0.15 install on a siteground server, if that helps.

I am using the extension now on main domain and two sub-domains. Strangely one of the sub-domains has a problem loading the stats.

The icons etc., are all red crosses and it is trying to load the graphics from the wrong path.

It only shows 'mydomain' with the first letter eg. www.d/components...... and therefore stalls at this point, with 5 items still to load.

I have checked the config.php and as far as I can see, it is correct (live site address) and I am at a loss as to why this is.

Any help will be greatly appreciated as it is working absolutely beautifully on the other two sites!

Many thanks

This is really strange!
Cause there should be a value from the $mosConfig_live_site.
Maybe the PHP messes something up? Have you tried different versions of PHP ?

Hi Matto,

No I haven't tried different versions of PHP as it is the same PHP for all three sites on the same server and the other two sites are working fine, so I don't think that is the reason.

As I am sure you realize, that with Joomla 1.5.3 it is "var $live_site =" but could it be any other reason as it is 1.5.3?

The site in question was a transfer from another domain using Joomlapack, so although I uninstalled and reinstalled Joomlawatch, could there be another file which has not adapted to the new livesite address that is causing the problem?

I will keep looking but any other directions/ideas you may have will be much appreciated.

Thanks

I should also mention that I am using a Rocket Theme template. But I have switched templates for others and have the same results. Just a red x no matter whether I enable the invisible or visible icons.

Re:1.2.6 Stalling at loading stats & visits 8 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
Problem resolved!!!

Still a bit strange but after checking many files I found that in the three sites (main and 2 sub-domains), in the respective configuration files, I had on the 2 working sites ... var $live_site =' ' and on the other... var $live_site ='www.mydomain.com'.

On the site with the problem is was ... var $live_site ='www.mydomain.com'. (obviously with the actual domain name)

I did not think therefore that this was any impact on the problem, so I left this until now and I removed the live site address for the problem site and made it ... var $live_site =' ' and hey presto! it is now working perfectly!!

I really don't know why this is as it is working in both ways on the other sites but.... that was the problem resolved.

So I suggest that anyone else who is getting stalling, IN THE BACK END ADMINISTRATION, should try both live site configurations, which is "with" full HTTP address of the website and "without", just leaving the quote marks.

This applies to Joomla 1.5.x only!!!

If they have a problem at the front end then they should read the previous posts in this post to resolve that.

Delighted to have sorted this as it is a great extension.

Hi Alatiq,
Thank you!
It really helps when there are intelligent users like you, that can figure out what could be possibly wrong and play around with the problem for a while, and then, when solved, they share the solution with everyone. Great! Thanks again.

I am having the same problem as the previous people who have posted. When I load the Joomlawatch page in the backend, all I see is the list of

No actual statistics show up. I read what was said here, but I have no programming experience beyond very basic things. I would love some help in figuring this out!

Hi Rose,

OK first things first. What version of Joomla are you using?
And did you also install the Joomlawatch module (as well as the component) and enable the module?

Then we will take the next step!

Lets try to figure it out!

Hello again.

I have Joomla 1.5 installed, and have installed both files (component and module).

I have set the proper permissions on my ftp server (as previously suggested), but it is still not working.

The button on the frontend is broken as well when I look at it. Nothing is set up underneath the title of "JoomlaWatch"

I am very disapointed. I love your Demo! I wish my site was working with your wonderful program.

Hello Rose,

OK. and you have enabled the module.....?

Did you also check the configuration.php file in the domain root? and try the variable var $live_site =
with just
var $live_site = ''
or with
'www.mydomain.com'. (obviously with your actual domain name)

The other thing you can check is the ERROR log via the Cpanel for your server and see if there are any errors stated there. I found that my component folder had to high level of permission (the one in the admin directory), which was one of my problems and found this in the error log.

By the way, I am only a user myself. It is worth persevering as it is a great extension.

Good luck and let me know how you do.

Hello Alatiq,

I have tried to change the configuration.php file to go from var $live_site = ''; TO var $live_site = 'my-real-site-name-here.com'; and uploaded it to my ftp server.

I reloaded my Joomla backend admin panel, and nothing happened. I still get the blank looking page with :

Latest Visitors

Bots

And yes, I have enabled Joomlawatch in my module section (I am not *that* new.

The funny thing is that both the JoomlaWatch icon on my front end site , and in my components menu is broken up. It looks like the icon is split up in the middle, diagonally.

I uninstalled and reinstalled, but nothign is different.

I am at a loss. I really wish I could fix this.
