umm...something to clear the log or whatever its called....my database size increased twice since I first started using Joomlawatch...

Yes, but it's not because of the logs. Logs are being kept quite short. Last 50 records or so..

The main reason why the database is so big is the ip2c - the IP to country resolving table. This table has about 10 MB and without that it would be impossible to assign the right country flag to the specific IP address.

I've been examining this request some time ago, but without any success. Unfortunately, there is no place joomla stores the username to user IP mapping.

This way it's impossible to assign a member name to a specific IP address.



Some other user of joomla wanted this change as well:

A moddification would be required to mod_logged to include the IP, and for most users it seems to me as a complication.

If you will find a way how to solve this, please let me know.

Here is my wishlist for JoomlaWatch 2.0.0 (or 1.3.0 ?)

- Expand/collapse visited pages from single URI
- Configuration of JW in backend

= General settings =

• Update interval (in seconds)


• Toggle TLD code/full country name. (row 3 and 5 respectively of #__joomlawatch_ip2c) or show full country name as tooltip when mouse is over flag.


= Settings for left pane (main pane) =

• Show visitors of last XX hours (001-168 hrs?), but this would require the displayed time to also include the date.


• Show/hide bots or move bots to own tab


• Show/hide URI after link to visited page (Page title links to URI, will show as tooltop and/or in statusbar, depending on browser configuration)


• Show/hide site title but keep page title. This is useful for websites with long titles like &quot;Jimmy's website of games and other fun stuff&quot;. Current format is &quot;Site title - Component title - Page title&quot;, but &quot;Component title - Page title&quot; would be enough.


= Settings for left pane (sidebar) =

• Show page title instead of URI

Those are just a couple of ideas. I don't know how realistic they are though.
Please let me know if i wasn't clear in my descriptions (it happens sometimes).

I would like to be able to remove the site name from the list of pages displayed as I recently changed it for SEO reasons and as its longer now I can not distinguish between any of the pages they are going to unless I click the link due to it going of the screen, would it be possible maybe to add a feature to expand to the full path of the url or configure what parts are displayed so you can have live visibility of what pages they are viewing. If you have any quick fix’s for this maybe a modified php file that would be much appreciated.

I have to copy the ip I see from this component and paste it into super log pro to find the username it is with

I wish this component would list their username by the ip - that way I could nail people faster or see things go down before they do

Hi, i don't know how does this component work, but, it's impossible to exclude this ip2c for the backup process and regenerate it when we have to restore the DB?
so,,absolutly no way to decrease the DB file size?

the joomlawatch_ip2c is a table that's static, no changes are written there.

So, you can exclude it during the database backup process, and after a db restore you can re-import it separatelly using .sql files that are in the sql folder of JoomlaWatch.

I've noticed that some of the flags are incorrect, that some of our US IP codes are showing up as foreign countrie IP's in JoomlaWatch. Is there any sort of update for this?

I would really like to get some statistics about browser view ports and screens resolutions, colour depth, and browser capabilities.

I believe these could be gathered via JavaScript?

yes, you are right. The JavaScript should be used there. And it's gonna be quite complicated.

I'll have a look at some samples like &quot;Screen Resolution Detection&quot;.
But currently, the main task is to make JoomlaWatch work with Joomla 1.5

Just installed JoomlaWatch! it works like a charm. No problems with it.

My only request is the same as others - to view which IP belongs to which registered user.

Any word on when the next update is?

This is probably pretty far-fetched, but I would like a way to bump off an IP from time to time. We get spammers trying to use our classified ads all the time, and I would love to be able to click a link and just cut them off of the site. It takes several steps to block the IP from the server and in that time they could send out a lot of junk.

For example, if I see an IP from China on our classifieds, I would love to be able to just boot them off. That would buy me some time to add their IP to my block list.

Please try 1.2.3, there are some new features as well.

Just installed it and so far I love the changes!! Wow, I can block those spammers right from here? Totally cool!

So far it works BEAUTIFULLY. The only issue I have noticed is some kind of delay or latency when you click the link to block an IP (or click the IP to toggle the block) Most of the time I have to click it twice before it works. That's a small price to pay, however, for the ability to block a spammer when you see them.

Yes, the delay is caused by the AJAX call (a front-end javascript that calls the back-end php script) and this stats window refreshes automatically, so yes, this is a price to pay.
Thanks to you and all other users for suggestions that helped to make JoomlaWatch even better.

It might be handy if the JoomlaWatch output could be emailed to the webmaster@yoursite.com every x hours or xx entries.

Some new variables might be needed like:

JoomlaWatchEmaiOnOrOffl On/Off
JoomlaWatchEmailReportTime 0 off X=number of hours between reporting
JoomlaWatchEmailReportLines 0 off X=number of lines to trigger report
JoomlaWatchEmailDetails 0 off 1 on
JoomlaWatchEmailSummary 0 off 1 on
JoomlaWatchEmailAddress blank=send to Joomla Default Email OR non blank send to email stored here.

As an aside first time I have used JoomlaWatch and it worked straight out of the box.

First of all, congrats on the great tool, i've used it for a couple of weeks now, and i really like it. I do have a couple of suggestions though:

* Add the date to the timestamp on the stats page, or make it an option. I do not have a lot of visitors, so it's a bit of guesswork which day someone visited the site.
* Make an option to limit the amount of visits PER IP. I need frequent refreshs when coding on the site, thus generating a huge amount of new logs totally overshadowing the other IP's. I would have thought the JOOMLAWATCH_STATS_MAX_ROWS variable would do the trick, but apparently it doesn't?

My suggestions:

The ability to have selected IP's to be ignored in the stats so that I and my associates may work on the site without being counted.

A simple front page (or other) visitors map based on these stats would be very nice and would keep the info on site.

I've looked at the jos_session table. It seems like a good place to insert IP address...

is it possible to exclude my own ip address from being used in JoomlaWatch ?
Now it counts all my visits when I am updatng and checking the site....
for the rest it looks good.... just in use for a day...
maybe an option to reset all counters ??

The date and time should always be present even if there are no guests/visitors.

I wanted this also so I edited class.joomlawatch.html.php. (don't know if that's legal though). I added line 344 and edit 350.

It would be supergreate to have the possibillity to assign a name to an IP adr. Eg I could name the IP adresses for the bots, so I know which bot has search my site. Or assign a name to a IP adress, so I know who has been on my site...

Hmm.. interesting, are you sure that you can keep sense in that? Cause many bots can have different IP addresses.
Maybe it should work like that, that you can use a wildcard, to include it's subdomain as well. eg. 177.22.11.*

Love the JoomlaWatch but I'm missing one thing.
All other stats tools I've looked at show the words that people searched for in the searchengine before they ended up on the site. Would it be possible to implement such a feature into this tool?
Since I'm running a store it's a necessity to know what people are looking for.
It would also be great to have an option to be able to toggle the showing of countries and visitors in the front end.
