purge or shrink database 8 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
hello,

is there any risk or issue with deleting old records from the visitor stats table?

are there any pitfalls to deleting all records older than 30 days?

thanks,

leland

Hi,
sorry that I'm answering after a long time, I had some important work to do.

Deleting the old data won't affect anything, it should work.
Just keep the jos_joomlawatch_config table, which stores the key to make stats visible just from the backend.

great component!

thank you so much...

we love seeing how visitors are navigating through our site...and for how long...

We've even "caught" our competitors snooping around our new site.

p.s. a neat feature would be to take the IP address link that now blocks that IP address and allow it to automatically search the IPwho is (cqcounter.com/whois/). right now we are copying and pasting into their service...would be cool to be able to click and see what information is available for that IP

thanks again

Hi,
that's a good idea.

the IP has to be just linked this way:
cqcounter.com/whois/my_ip_address.php?query=IP_ADDRESS

and after the link is clicked, it will open a page with this information

Great component!

I was looking to do a whois lookup based on IP too. But I didn't want to lose the ability to block IPs based on the existing link. So in the 'IPs for date...' section (right column) I added a little lookup icon and linked it to the whois link above.

In /components/com_joomlawatch/class.joomlawatch.html.php, I just changed the value assigned to $row->name (line 91) to a more complex value containing the icon in a link to whois followed by the ip with the link to block.

Code:

$row->name = "<a href=\"http://cqcounter.com/whois/?query=$ip\" target=\"_blank\">";
$row->name .="<img src=\"$this->mosConfig_live_site/components/com_joomlawatch/icons/lookup.gif\" style=\"border: 0px;\" alt=\"Who is $ip?\" /></a>";
$row->name .= "<a  id='$row->name' href='javascript:blockIpToggle(\"$row->name\"«»);' style='color: black;'>" . $ip . "</a>";

You can select any 16x16 icon that you want to use for ip lookup. Just name it lookup.gif and copy it to the /components/com_joomlawatch/icons folder. If your icon has another name, just change the src reference in the img tag.
