visitors by countries in frontend 8 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Hello,

I would like to display in the frontend 2 modules.

- the first one to display numbers of visitors today/last week/last month/total

- the second one to display the % of visitors by countries.

Previously I used joomlastat in my sites http://www.audfray.com and http://armand-petersen.fr

But joomlastat dont't works in 1.5 and is take a lot of place in the database.

I would like if you have 2 modules that display the same informations.

Have a nice day.

That's a good idea! It can be quite useful. But I think it would require somehow some caching, because to access the database everytime to get the total stats, it would make the database loads very high. Anyway.. nice suggestion, just to implement it

Hello,

For me it is not necessary to have the numbers in real-time. Once per hour is sufficient for the number of connections of the day.
For the others: many connections of yesterday, to the week, to the month, entirely and all the percentages per country, once per day are enough

I do not know anything with the php but I saw something of identical (component advmanager) for an update of a basic table of data.
It is the first Net surfer of the day which starts the update of the table, all the other Net surfers of the day do nothing but read the contents of the table

It uses a file “cron.php” which contains <? php $last_cron_date=20080606;? >

and in a program, there are the following test:

if (file_exists( $mosConfig_absolute_path .'/components/'.$option.'/cron.php' ))
require_once( $mosConfig_absolute_path .'/components/'.$option.'/cron.php' );

if ($last_cron_date != date("Ymd"))
manage_expiration($option);

It is right an idea.

You also can you inspire by the modules associated with the component joomlastat namely:
mod_jstats_visitors_by_country2.3. and
mod_jstats_counters

I hope I can help you (I wait impatiently to be able to use your component with these 2 modules)

Best regards
